GLOBAL IMPACT

State University’s global economic and societal impact in 2017 increased $321 million since 2014. This impact results from teaching, research, and outreach and engagement activities. University operations contributed $2.176 billion to the state's economy in 2017 and were responsible for supporting up to 29,845 jobs.

For the third consecutive year, State University set a record in research grants and contracts: $421 million in 2017. This investment in research pays back:

  • A new drug delivery system that could treat resistant cancerous tumors 
  • A new technology to keep buildings cooler and reduce energy consumption
  • More than 60 spin-out companies launched over past 4 years
